Thanks David the ‘Bal’ is still open with mostly live stage shows. I saw the 2oth Century Fox movie ‘Journey To The Center Of The Earth’ in CinemaScope and 4 track stereophonic sound at the ‘Bal’ as a kid. Great stereo sound and big wide scope screen with curtains. It was a Golden State/United California Theatres/UA circuit. Soon the ‘New Lorenzo Theatre’ nearby will open with the same type of stage events in San Lorenzo CA. They need to offer a few movies also but probably on DCP video. Both of these big neighborhood cinemas had class, so nice they did not get torn down like the ‘Laurel Theatre’ in Oakland Ca.
