Stuart Gibson writes - My grandmother worked as an usherette at the Australia, I’m guessing, the 1950s. My aunt, as a young teenager, had the job of clearing the children’s bicycles away from the entrance doors at the time of the matinees. She wasn’t paid but was allowed to sit in the cinema and watch the films on repeat.

Jack Steele writes - I was the projectionist there for a few years. Best job I ever had. A church bought it and gutted it. Not a wall standing inside. It’s a real shame because it had a lot of character and stories.

Tim Kuschel writes - I spent quite a bit of time in that place - consulting for church group that were going to renovate, repair and reuse. Significant maintenance issues and heritage requirements impacted the budget and they ended up selling and moving on.
