Used to go to the Del Mar back in the mid-1950’s.
Saturday mornings for serials, cartoons and double features.
Tickets were about 25-35 cents. I got a free pass for being
a crossing guard at my elementary school. Saw my 1st 3D movie
there (Bwana Devil). Also classics like Shane and THEM! Hot dogs
were terrible, but at 10 yrs. old, you didn’t think so. We lived
practically across the street on Cherrywood Ave. My parents
owned a business just a block away on E. 14th St.
