Grange Picture House
This August 1947 view across Great Horton has captured the south facing aspect of the Grange.
My text to the other aerial photo makes mention of “The screen horn was inside a large rectangular box on steel brackets fixed high up the middle of the end wall, presumably done when the cinema was rigged for talkies.” The appended horn chamber can be seen in this photo.
Also clear in the photo is the presence of windows in the longitudinal walls of the auditorium. These were blanked/boarded over inside. The rectangular shape of the boards was just apparent in the wall decoration.
