“THE HAMLIN AVE THEATRE AND THE HUMAN HORSE.
A west side movie house long gone, now a vacant lot. It stood in the 3800 block of W Madison and would later be renamed The Alex.
Perhaps the only photo of the original facade, seen here in 1911. It would be the starting point for a proposed trip to San Francisco by a couple of gents, N. White acting as a human horse pulling the other fellow H. Oberst in a Frazier racing sulky, seen here posing in front of the Hamlin. It was a bet that man was superior to a horse in endurance and strength.
Hmm, wonder how that turned out? Seems lost to history or just a publicity stunt."
