Here is the Grand Opening photo from the front page of the weekly Jeffersonian Democrat of Brookville, July 3, 1952 edition. It matches the drive-in’s current claim that it first opened that year. The Moonlite’s grand opening was July 2, a Wednesday. Note the original sign that matches some other photos here.

It’s very unlikely that whatever copyright might exist on this photo and two-paragraph blurb would have been renewed, but don’t take my word for it. Of course, I have no interest or claim on any existing copyright, so use at your own risk. I have uploaded it here for the fair use scholarly purpose of establishing the opening date for this drive-in.
