An original photograph taken in May 1938 showing a section of the Rex restaurant as designed by Eugene Mollo giving the appearance of an ocean liner. The fitted in-house carpet was also designed by Mollo for Shipman & King in 1936 the design called'The Balka' was used in all their cinemas after this date. Sadly nearly all these well designed restaurants closed during the war, only a handful ever re-opened.
