Photograph of the large auditorium which held 1800 seats. The colour scheme, tones of old rose, gold, buff and green. Lighting played a large part of the auditorium design, four horizontal bands ran the entire length of the ceiling leading down to the proscenium, while vertical bands of lighting line up with those on the ceiling, the splay wall golden grilles were lit by concealed flood lights. Controlled by a motorised dimmer the lighting gradually faded from the centre of the ceiling down the walls and simultaneously from the proscenium to the rear of the auditorium.
