The Rex Theatre in Charlton, Victoria Australia is the last intact purpose built cinema in country Victoria.
Built in 1938 the building remains in its original state, with only minor alterations to bio room for the installation of the Philips dp70 projectors.
Built by local builders, the auditorium features its original light fittings and fans which are still in use today, these are complimented by two figurines placed high on the proscenium wall. It is the home of many artifacts from older cinemas that have been demolished. Notes by David Pollard.
