Criterion Theatre NE corner of Broadway and W. 44th Street, New York, NY - 3D Presentation.

“Second Chance,” released in 1953, was a crime drama filmed in 3D and Technicolor, starring Robert Mitchum, Linda Darnell, and Jack Palance.

It was RKO’s first 3D production. The film’s 3D effects were primarily used during a climactic scene involving a cable car rescue, where a snapped cable creates a tense situation. While the 3D was a key feature, it was noted that the film’s dramatic elements and plot held up even without the stereoscopic effect.

Reg Hartt writes - This is a wonderful film. The use of 3D really amplifies the experience. I feel the depth when that cable car hangs over the abyss. A real nail biter.
