When the comic opera"Robin Hood"produced by the Bostonians first opened in NYC on Sept.28th,1891 at the Standard theatre,Canadian actor Eugene Cowles was in the role of Will Scarlet, around the same time a production opened in London at the Prince of Wales theatre as"Maid Marian".Eugene Cowles would be in the role of Will Scarlet when “Robin Hood"reopened at the Garden theatre in NYC on May 16th,1892;also a production would open at the Baltimore, MD theatre on Oct.3rd,1892 under the name of"The Robin Hood Opera Company"with Frederick Nichols in the role of Will Scarlet.
My grandfather Louis Casavant did not play in any New York city productions of Robin Hood, any past statement I made of this was in error.
