An incredible visual pun by noted Traverse City photographic journalist John L. Russell, shot circa 1975, when the movie was in theaters. As you can see, the Allied Moving Truck is parked in front of the marquis, and the company is apparently moving somebody out of one of the apartments upstairs next door. The worker is lugging a dresser up the ramp into the back of the van. You can see across the street the famous Stacey’s Restaurant (closed 1984) where the customers were required to check themselves out at the cash register when they were ready to leave (now Poppycocks), also Fox’s Jewelry (now What To Wear). The theatre opened in 1941 and is now closed (when, I cannot discover), although the building remains as a retail/office setup.
