Malco temporarally closed the U•ARK to twin the theater following the November 25, 1970 showing of “Fantasia.“ Malco relaunched as the UARK Twin Cinema 1&2 on January 22, 1971 with 2001: A Space Odyssey” and “Gone with the Wind.” The concept would fail closing just after three years following the May 5, 1974 showings of “The King & I” and “O’ Lucky Man.” The theater would go dark for more than a year before passing to independent operation as a repertory / art house on one screen and live events on the other.
