After 1.5 million gallons of water, the Park Theatre fire was out after being discovered on the morning of September 28, 1947. If you were hoping to see “Song of the Thin Man” that evening, you were out of luck as the theater closed for 11 months to repair the damage that was estimated at between $200,000 and $300,000.
