Photograph taken in the Summer of 1978 and shows the Strand still in fine condition, as is the central raised flower bed. Only two items differ from my photograph taken forty years before, that being no flag now flies from the parapet and two small chocolate hand vending machines now fitted either side of the film stills boards. It appears that owner Maurice Prince keeps an eye on his cinema, however that was to change three year later in May 1981 when at the age of 82 he retired. Maurice was to live another decade until 1991.
