Maurice Prince (1899 - 1991) Managing Director of Bideford Entertainments Ltd., engaged cinema Architect David Nye to build his Strand cinema in Bideford, this was to be his second new cinema after the Regal Barnstable which opened the year previous on 30th August 1937 the cinema name ‘Strand’ was taken from the area where his Regal Barnstable was built.
