Strand Theatre 161-169 Baylis Street, Wagga Wagga, NSW - 1915
The Strand Theatre - Later to become Hoyts Plaza Theatre.
Photo - LOST WAGGA WAGGA
Wagga’s beautiful Strand Theatre, built in Baylis St by local builder Henry Campbell and opened on 23rd August,1915. It was one of the towns major entertainment centres until November,1932 when it was completely destroyed by fire.
The Plaza Theatre was immediately built on the ashes of the Strand and opened 15th September,1933.
The Plaza closed and re-opened on a couple of occasions from 1978 then eventually closed permanently in 1997 when the Forum 6 Cinema was built. The building still stands today.
