This was Durham’s most luxurious cinema and was a ‘cut above’ the busier Essoldo on North Road which was better positioned and also benefitted from a generally better booking policy. The Palladium’s only ‘trump card’ was its exclusive arrangement with 20th Century-Fox although this failed to assist the place during that Company’s rather lean years in the early 1970’s……
