Perhaps aptly, in 1960 Les Corne chose to announce the closure of the Blackheath cinema at the same time that it was showing “On the Beach” - a film about the end of the world. (Ironically the world ended that year too for the man who built the Arcadia/ Victory – Herbert Robert Neate (1876 – 1960).
