12 William St under construction, glimpse of Capitol Theatre next door on the right……1929.
William Street became a casualty as every building along it was replaced by glass and steel skyscrapers, including this one under construction. The greatest loss, though, was the Capitol Theatre, demolished around 1969. In this photo you can see on the right the intricate detailing on its façade. - Notes by Sue Fury.
