Manager Harold B. Franklin of the Cohan Theatre was said to have create an innovation for 1923’s “Ten Commandments.“ Instead of using bulbs to create the title, he stencil cut the letters and used indirect backlighting to make the title easier and cleaner. And the film was a blockbuster.
