The Power The Passion The Greatness The Glory. With no plans for a “Ben-Hur II” MGM looked around for a follow-up attraction in 1960 and secured world distribution rights to Samuel Bronston’s independent Biblical epic “King of Kings” then shooting in Spain, featuring Jeffrey Hunter (1926-1969) in the title role. MGM’s artwork line ‘Filmed in 70MM Super Technirama’ was a fraudulent claim. While 70mm prints were produced for some territories, it was actually FILMED in 35mm Technirama and shown here in the 35mm CinemaScope format. Two Australian actors appeared in the cast, one of whom - Sydney boy Ron Randell - attended the St James premiere Friday 8 December 1961. It ran for a respectable 12 weeks.
