Trams stopped running down Elizabeth Street Sydney in February 1961. The one appearing here - tram number 1700 - happens to be one of the few still in existence - now on display at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine USA. This view of the St James is probably from around 1956/7. The Prince Edward Theatre, often misremembered as the St James, is way off down in the next block.
