“San Francisco” set an opening day house record when it launched at the St James on 14 August 1936. The program included a 3D short in the red/blue anaglyphic process later renamed Metroscopiks.
“San Francisco” enjoyed many revivals over the years and further down Elizabeth Street was the opening attraction at Dave’s Encore Moviehouse (aka Mandolin) 31 January 1977 with earthquake rumblings enhanced by the use of quintaphonic sound speakers left over from “Tommy”.
