An aerial view of the Palace, dated June 1936. For a theatre, it’s conspicuously lacking a fly tower.
Apparently there was “hatch” to a cafe next door which supplied refreshments at the interval.
A three-storey apartment block now stands on the site of the Methodist church; a six-storey block on the Palace site; and few town-houses on the curving site to the north (left) of the theatre.
