Architect Alfred Oaten built the Charlton cinema in Charlton Road, Keynsham, for the Keynsham Picture House Company of which he was a Director. The cinema opened in November 1936 with the film ‘One Rainy Afternoon’ starring Francis Lederer and Ida Lupino.
