All six of MGM’s “Tarzan” features debuted at the Capitol, but this was the last with support from a stage show. The Capitol showcased films only from 1935 into 1943.

One of the Pickens Sisters featured in the stage show now has a theatre named for her in Newport, Rhode Island. CT listing here
Hello-
when I found this wonderful site I really got a big kick out of looking at the ads for a big film’s exclusive first run engagement at one of the grand old theaters that once dotted the Times Square area. to which the ad for Planet of the Apes which opened here Feb. 1968. nowadays theater managers schedule what I consider an excessively large amount of time between showings of a film. now POTA was 1hr. 42mins. yet showings were scheduled every 2 hours- 10, 12, 2, 4, etc………. I thought how could the theater get the old audience out, clean the theater and get the new audience in in 18mins.? so what did they do? not clean the theater till the of the day?
