Hoyts Regal Camberwell Road and Toorak Road, Hartwell - VIC - Grand opening program May 8, 1937

The demolition of a sacred place in April 1959 - Look-up to the left and you will see the projection booth (the heart of the cinema) as yet untouched - Look down and you can see the remains of the crying room.

Photo - The Regal Hartwell was closed in April 1959 with Tony Curtis in “The Defiant Ones” & Tommy Sands in “Sing Boy Sing”. Sadly, it was demolished for a service station, then Hartee’s Hamburgers, Humphrey’s Restaurant, Juliano’s Restaurant and finally Dosa Plaza. The site now contains a modern apartment /retail building.
