It was not thought necessary to adorn the building with the meaningless and usually ill designed ornament that has come to be considered necessary for picture theatres.
The interior is finished in cement-pointed brickwork, the piers carrying the roof trusses being banded with buff courses. The procenial wall is covered with rough stucco plaster, and a wide enriched architrave, with a pediment over, is carried round the stage opening. In the design of the theatre full advantage was taken of the experience of other picture theatres.
In this photo the screen has at some stage been doodled on with appropriate motives.
