Among the innovations is a new type of ticket box, designed by the architects, Messrs. H. Vivian Taylor, Soilleux and Overend, and the only one of its kind in the world. Of spherical shape. It is built up of bands of dull and bright chromium and curved plate glass, illuminated so that it gives the appearance of standing in a pool of light.
Concealed on the top of the ticket box are power ful reflectors, which floodlight the en tire ceiling of the rotunda foyer, making light fittings unnecessary.
A sound-proof room at the rear of the stalls, known as a “crying room,” has been provided to allow mothers with crying babies to see and hear the films in comfort, without disturbing the rest of the audience. There will a a parking area for perambulators.
Other novelties in the theatre include an illuminated glass faccur with silhouette letters in cast aluminium on the verandah, and the absence of all light fittings in the auditorium, which is illuminated bv three narrow glass strios running the entire length of the celling.
