Did you know that The Rivoli Theatre was the first theatre to offer modern air conditioning in New York City? Thanks to Carrier’s Centrifugal Chiller, Rivoli Theatre provided central air to hundreds of fans the summer of 1925.
For just a quarter, moviegoers saw a feature-length flick, with music from the 35-piece house orchestra. In its time, the Rivoli hosted its share of movie premieres, including opening nights for “Oklahoma,” “The Grapes of Wrath,” “Around the World in 80 Days” and “The Sound of Music.”
