Carolyn McCall Bids the Roxy Farewell

Here is a mixed-media painting I did of the Roxy inspired by the famous photograph of my friend, Ben Hall’s book, “The Best Remaining Seats.” Note that this view is a bit different and includes the remnants of the Roxy’s Rotunda Kimball organ console which unceremoniously dropped from a failed block-and-and tackle hoist. The woman is not Gloria Swanson, but my mother, Carolyn McCall who would loved to have posed for this painting; she even had a similar boa!
