Entrance foyer of the Carlton, this rare photograph from the Mollo collection shows large fish swimming within a marine design. The following is an extract published in the Kinematograph Weekly by Eugene Mollo A.R.C.A. ‘Mural Decoration by means of Photography’ a process which was Patented by Mollo both in Great Britain and America. “Spraying a photographic emulsion directly upon the surface which is to be decorated, printing on it the photograph by means of a projector and subsequently developing, fixing and washing the image again by means of spraying”. Mollo used this process both Commercially and for interiors of his cinema designs such as the Lansdowne News Theatre, Mayfair London, 21st January 1937. Century Cinema Cheam, 22nd March 1937 and Apollo Theatre, Manchester 29th August 1937.
