This rarely seen movie gave one of the world’s greatest pop singers the leading female role in an American South slavery days drama. It might have not been shown in Columbus, Ohio if not for the then rare move of the Southern Theatre to show a first run feature in the 1960s. I had the pleasure to witness one of the world’s great voices when Ms. Warwick performed in her birth home county of Essex, New Jersey at a free summer evening concert.
