Late 1990s daytime view of the Varsity, with its 1930s marquee restored and readerboards retrofitted to hold signs for Borders. Careful attention was given to making the effect of the Borders lettering similar to that of the original changeable letters which this marquee used–raised milk glass inside black sheet metal cutouts. The red and white colors of the marquee matched the original 1930s scheme, both in paint and neon tubing.
