THE NIGHT PORTER

In addition to attending many Saturday afternoon kid matinee double features at the Salisbury (we were parked there while our mother’s got their hair done and did the grocery shopping), I remember seeing many first run movies there, among which were “Z,”“The Producers,” Zeffirelli’s “Romeo and Juliet” and “The Graduate.”
Among the matinee films I remember were “Robinson Caruso on Mars” (still a favorite), “Jason and the Argonauts” and “The Blob” (which scares me to this day).
Everybody knew that they also showed ‘porn,’ but for those of us who did not see porn, it had a nice neighborhood feeling.
