This original programme was given to me by Denis Tapsell who was General Manager of the Gaumont Hammersmith. I was a young House Manager with Denis for 3 years from 1969 however, because there were at that time three Assistant Managers and a Box Office Manager I was always being moved around. Denis had once lived with his parents in the flat below Jack Buchanan who was a friend of his Architect Father. Later I too worked at the Leicester Square Theatre as Assistant to the Area Manager whose office was then on the first floor. Ranks were always moving and changing offices, the three years I spent with them seemed like ten!! When the Area office was moved again to the Odeon Redhill, I asked to go back to the Odeon Hammersmith, as I never liked working in the Area Office 9-5 pm collating figures, listening to Managers complaining, moving staff to other cinemas etc. Eric Crowther the Area Manager thought I was mad he couldn’t understand why I wished to go back and work live show nights until 2 am!!!
