Photograph 1900 with view left of Empire with the Stagg & Mantle extension now adjoining the Empire building. To the right of the Empire is the new Queens hotel which opened the previous year, and further along Daly’s Theatre and finally the London Hippodrome towers. To the right side is a view of Leicester gardens enclosed by iron railings with lower retaining wall. Plenty of room in those days for pedestrians to walk without a pavement.
