If you’re like me, you visit the Cinema Treasures site for new cinemas, theater updates, and the latest news on classic cinemas and the contemporary moviegoing scene. If you’ve done the latter over the past decade, you have Michael Zoldessy to thank for making the CT blog a must-read.

This site owes an enormous and incomparable debt to Michael for his tireless work and dedication to bringing the latest news to the site every week for nearly a decade. It’s hard to think of Cinema Treasures without him but I’m grateful that he’ll still be around as a visitor and I’m even more grateful to have his friendship.

On behalf of Patrick, Ken, and myself, please help me thank Michael for everything he’s done for classic cinemas in Los Angeles and for his work on this site. Thank you Michael — we will miss you!

P.S. The blog is on hiatus for the moment but we are happily seeking volunteers to work on the future of the blog.

Michael did an awesome job with Homepage News for years! On occasion I emailed him suggested stories and on occasion he asked my permission to use my photos. He was always very polite, very nice, and very supportive of historic preservation of cinemas and of this website.

Somebody please step to the plate for this important task so this wonderful website can have this great feature!

Great job Michael, thanks for all your hard work! Not that I don’t value every aspect of Cinema Treasures but the blog was the thing that brought me here every afternoon to catch the latest news about theaters around the country and around the world. Sometimes I’d even find news about a theatre close to home that I previously knew nothing about. Greatly looking forward to the blog’s return!

Well, Mike…I’ll miss you, too. It’s a nice website, and a nice blog. Here’s hoping that the blog comes back up soon, and wishing you the best of luck, wherever you go.

Michael, thank you for all your great efforts and the best of luck to you. The Cinema Treasures contact e mail does not work,I tried to send you last week’s LA Times story about Cinepolis possibly buying Regal.

Michael Zoldessy: Now that you’re leaving Cinema Treasures for other venues, let me asked you if Cinema Treasures is hiring for any and all positions at this time. E-Mail me at

Raysson, my understanding is cinematreasures is indeed looking to replace Michael as blog editor, as he was, pro bono, i.e. volunteer.

Yes, thank you, Michael for all you had done (and may continue to do) on this site. Cinematreasures is a regular stop on all my surfing sessions and it is especially because of your tireless updates!

Thanks so much for all the kind comments here. It truly was a pleasure working on the site all these years.

Despite everything, I still really love going out to the movies and it’s great to know others share the same passion.
