Harvard Square movie theater to close in July
CAMBRIDGE, MA — The AMC Loews Harvard Square 5 will close July 8th due to its sale by its parent company. It’s estimated that the theatre has shown “Rocky Horror Picture Show” roughly 1,500 times.

ReRun Gastropub Theater to close
BROOKLYN, NY — The ReRun Gastropub Theater will only be showing films through the end of the month before closing for an unspecified amount of time. Their programmer is stepping down and the owner wants to possibly take the space in a new direction.

Manhattan Village 6 closes
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — After over 20 years in business, Pacific closed the Manhattan Village late last month. They aging theatre could not keep up with nearby competition anymore.

Cinema Grill shuts down
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — After 13 years, the Cinema Grill is shutting its doors. They didn’t list a reason but urge residents to visit the area’s other independent theaters.

Carmike closes Cinema 8
LEXINGTON, NC — Lexington is without a cinema yet again with the closing of Cinema 8. The 30 year old cinema has seen declining crowds for years and locals hope another operator can come in and make it thrive again.

Highland Park closes movie theater
HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The Highland Park Theatre was closed over the weekend due to fire violations. The future of the building is unclear as the city has been looking for suitors for awhile.

POST FALLS, ID — The Post Falls Theater closed last weekend. The owner blamed a lack of community support for the aging theatre.

Maple Art to close
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI — Landmark Theatres has lost its lease for the Maple Art Theatre and it will close at the end of the month. No word yet on the building’s future but the beloved art house will be missed.

Harbor Theatre closes
MUSKEGON, MI — Like many times before, the Harbor Theatre is closing. Despite the love of so many locals and numerous recent improvements, it just wasn’t enough to keep the theatre going. It’s been dealt some blows before so hopefully it can find a savior again.
