Charleston’s Will Rogers Theatre in Need of Restoration
Jarad Jarmon reports in the Journal Gazette & Times-Courier “the board of directors of the Will Rogers Project, a non-profit organization of people seeking to save the Will Rogers Theatre in Charleston, IL from potential demolition, will be updating people in the community as to what has been done so far to save the historic theater.

The Hill Community Development Corp. Plans Redevelopment of the New Granada Theatre
The New Granada Theater has long been a link to the Hill District’s past, a one-time jazz hot spot that drew the likes of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington before closing and falling into disrepair.
Now it’s ready to re-emerge as a key part of the neighborhood’s future.
The Hill Community Development Corp. plans to issue a request for proposals seeking a partner for the redevelopment of the New Granada block on Centre Avenue, with the theater serving as the anchor, Mark Belko reports in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Judge issues order putting Chautauqua Amphitheater demolition on hold
A State Supreme Court judge issued a temporary restraining order Monday blocking Chautauqua Institution from taking actions leading to the demolition of the 1893 Amphitheater.
The Chautauqua Institution board voted in December to accept bids to knock down the Amphitheater and build a modern replica in its place.
“This gives us some small hope that one of America’s national treasures, and a Chautauqua National Historic Landmark, might be saved and improved for future generations,” said Brian Berg, president of the Committee to Preserve the Historic Chautauqua Amphitheater.

Non-profit formed to rebuild Historic State Theatre of Boyertown, PA
Here’s some great news from our friends in Boyertown! A group of Boyertown residents with a common interest in re-opening the State Theatre has banded together to form The State Theatre Preservation Society, a non-profit organization whose goal is to purchase, preserve and reopen the historic building.

Charlottesville’s Paramount Theatre Installs a Restored Blade
The Paramount Theater celebrated the conclusion of the 10th Anniversary of its restoration in a big way. On Tuesday, December 15 at approximately 5:45PM the Theater lit the newly-installed, reconstructed 33 foot historic vertical blade sign for the first time since the 1960s.

The Theatre on Your Street: The Plaza Theatre in Miamsburg, OH to Reopened on 25 December 2015
The Plaza Theatre in downtown Miamisburg is expected to reopen on 25 December, the 96th anniversary of its first showing. The theater originally started showing feature films in 1919 and recently underwent a $350,000 renovation project.
