AMC Downtown Disney 12

The building has finally been demolished (March 2021) with plans to build a new building with retail in its place.

It’s still standing, but more or less just part of the scenery now as vendor kiosks dot the front entrance area.

Yesterday was the final day of operation.

AMC will be reopening the former Movie Experience/Ultra Star Garden Walk theatre (the side which wasn’t converted in to the House of Blues). So, the area will have a movie theatre after Downtown Disney closes.

Well, neither of those theatres in Anaheim are listed on here, and I overlooked theatres in neighboring towns. I guess the only loser of this theatre closing is AMC and people paying for Stubs membership, and people seeing Disney preview showings. (For example Coco had advanced screenings for annual pass holders)

This leaves the amc theater in Disney springs as the only theater located near a disney theme park in the us if the plan goes through.

That will not happen. The new hotel will be exactly where the theatre is, and their isn’t enough room in the new building. The first floor will contain other shops and restaurants that will be torn down, but those take up much less room than a movie theatre does.

I’m sure AMC or someone else where open a new theatre somewhere in Anaheim. Without the AMC Downtown Disney, Anaheim will be one of the the most populated cities in the country not to have a single movie theatre. It just doesn’t make sense to keep one on a property that contains two of the most popular theme parks in the world, and limited room for hotels, shops, restaurants, and parking. Those people need a place to sleep or a place to eat. There’s only two Disney theme park resorts in the United States, but thousands of places to see a movie.

AMC Downtown Disney’s days are numbered. Disney has announced they are going to tear down the theatre and other buildings to make room for a new hotel.

All auditoriums have stadium seating with rocking seat backs.

Screens are pretty much wall to wall, can’t remember the exact dimensions but they are some of the largest screens I have seen.

All 12 theaters are SDDS Equipped and were once THX Certified.
5,7,& 10 are DTS equipped.

Parking is free for 3 hours and additional 2 are available with validation that can be done at the ticket drop station. Parking rates are $6 per hour (charged in 20 min increments $2per 20min)

This is a fairly low traffic theater due to it’s location so if you want to watch a movie without bumping elbows with other people this is a good choice.
