West Wind drive-ins are still in the Syufy family and have been since 1940. Syufy changed its name to Century Cinemas and then later sold their indoor theaters, so they had to change their name to something else. Thus, West Wind. Some of their former drive-ins are now swap meets which they still run, such as the Coliseum Drive-In in Oakland.
Opened as a twin drive-in with on screen 1 with “ Horrors of Frankenstein” and “Scars of Dracula” and on screen 2 with “Brewster McCloud” and “The strawberry statement” and a World Championship boxing match(Frazier vs Ali! Direct from ringside, first time in colour).
The 2nd, screen opened on March 17th, 1971. Grand opening ads posted.
Original screen destroyed by a storm in 1998.
I think this might be the drive-in that the owners(names unknown?) wanted to close down(date unknown?), but the council would not left them!?
The 1984 Motion Picture Almanac lists it with four screens, suggesting an intermediate stage between one screen and six.
It hasn’t been renamed officially… it’s still the Las Vegas drive-in — dunno who insisted it become the All Digital Drive-In… it would be the equivalent of naming every Cinemark “Best Seat in Town Cinemas”.

Most of the fields have been resealed in 2013.
I was also in LV…and went here…in April of last year and saw the potholes & debris first hand.

Did they repave the fields? Too much debris & potholes in it’s current config.
The sixth screen at this location as been rebuilt and is currently up and running. Should now be the Las Vegas 6 Drive-In.
Digital projection to be installed before the end of April 2013.
There is also a duplicate listing of this as the West Wind Drive-In (which it is operated by).
This is my wife’s other favorite theater. See my post at West Winds. My brain could be merging the two theaters together, too.
They probably forgot to change the Xenon Bulbs.LOL.
Syufy Enterprises owns West Wind. Just saying. :)
I’m glad this location is still open despite the fact that I don’t visit as much as I should. I heard rumors that Syufy wanted to tear it down and sell the land, like they do with every other theater they own, but the City of Las Vegas wouldn’t let them as its a (local) landmark.
I took a few dates here during my high school years because I’m classy like that alongside having a summer where my friends and I would do the double features here every Tuesday for four dollars.
They claimed to have upgraded their projection systems recently, but when I went a few months ago, for a double feature of Machete and Piranha, it still looked the same.
They got it all in LasVegas!!!

This drive-in was designed by Vincent G. Raney, architect of virtually all of the Syufy-Century theaters from the 1960s through the 1980s. Start of construction was announced in the July 5, 1965, issue of Boxoffice Magazine. The theater was to have space for 1200 cars, and the largest screen in Nevada.
Was mentioned in the documentary “Drive-In Movie Memories” in 2001.
We were out there last night. Funny to see all the films showing on the big screens. We have very few operating drive-ins left in SoCal. Here is another view of the marquee:
