Kim Jennings and Winston Bennett purchased the building in 2011 and over the course of 10 years have done some rehab including a new roof, but never fully finished the project or reopened the theater. They finished the area behind the screen/stage for dressing rooms, and flattened the rear of the auditorium to make space for tables and a bar.

They sold the building within the last month(Jan/Feb 2021) to Andy Montee and his mother, who plan to restore the exterior and rehab the interior further with plans for live entertainment and food service with a kitchen and bar. Expected to reopen early 2022.

I think the reopening fizzled. Last update on their FB page was in 2015.

I checked micro film at local Library no adds in Jan 2010 newspapers so I decided to check Dec 2009 newspapers and again no adds which means it closed before Dec 2009.

Nope, still closed, Looks nearly unchanged since the two pics uploaded by me in September 2011.

The vitrolite is now falling off of the exterior in depressingly large quantities, there are now ~20 tiles missing/fallen. I’m currently using a shard I found on the sidewalk as a keychain. I will own this building someday….

HogGravy, Nothing has been done since I took those construction pictures last September…. Quite sad. How I would LOVE to own that building.

So I won’t be the cause of any more hair loss for HogGravy, here is a fresh link to the photo of the Trail Theatre on the cover of Boxoffice, October 6, 1951.

The May 5, 1951, issue of Boxoffice attributes the design of the Trail Theatre to Dietz Lusk of Boller & Lusk. The Dickenson’s Theatres house had just opened with 700 seats.
