Recent & future events at the Landis Theater include May 7, 2022 Greg Hawkes (Founding Member and Original Keyboardist of the Cars) with Eddie Japan performing the music of The Cars. May 10, 2022 Styper. So, a lot of good to great tribute bands as well as a mix of older bands that still play good to great music. The venue is used several times a week for concerts and is rented out to Miss Tri-City Pageant 2022 for instance. I haven’t been to this theater but intend to go sometime this summer.

Vineland Development Corporation is now operating the theater, basically renting it to promoters for shows. This philly.com story is about downtown Vineland in general, but has a few paragraphs about the Landis.

Unfortunately, this beautifully restored theater is once again closed and just sitting there, a victim of poor management and local politics.
Phila. Inquirer article today about it being taken over by another arts organization after having gone into the red.
Somebody who has taken a photo can post it.
Why isn’t there a current picture of the restored theater posted?

awesome picture of the renovated theater in attached link. looks just like it did over 70 years ago. also went inside today, theaters getting touch ups and the adjoined restaurant is moving along. restaurant interior and addition were designed in art moderne to compliment the theater. worth the trip to just experience the rebirth of such a historic landmark.

news article regarding final steps of the restoration of the Landis
Howard, the best thing was the company that replicated the sign is less than 2 miles away. what a blessing they were towards the project as a whole. we got to ‘scale’ the old sign in the shop scraping layers of paint and finding the original colors. if you look close enough at the lower sign, i had the company recreate the 3 band bumper directly below the letters. look at one of your Exhibitor photos of the sign in 1937 and then a picture of the sign before the reconstruction and then look at the new version they just installed. We also finally selected Custom Windows of Denver to recreate all the upper level industrial windows. The addition has it’s steel framing in place, all stage rigging structures were installed & the stage is built. The mori (attached building) layout changed considerably. the original chef backed out and the new chef wanted a much larger operation. so now, the entire 1st floor of the existing building is a restaurant and the 2nd floor is going to be a 250 person banquet room (with floor to ceiling industrial windows, nice touch) and a small portion for theater offices. Things are really positive and everybody is looking forward to a spring opening. you should try and attend, the theater web site should be posting info on it soon. take care!

Landis Theatre marquee returns

A crane lifted the Landis sign from the ground to its proper place atop the theater’s original marquee. The sun gleamed in the sign’s silver, red and blue.
Urban Sign & Crane Inc. on East Chestnut Avenue spent more than a year overseeing the rebuilding of the theater sign. Co-owner Seth Davis' objective was to replicate the original. The former sign was part of the theater marquee for several years, during its long reign as a downtown movie theater and long after it closed to the public in 1987.
While Davis worked on the sign, developer Hans Lampart launched his renovation and restoration of the theater at East and Landis avenues to transform it from an old vacant movie house to a state-of-the-art performing arts center.

Landis Theatre Marquee Delivered To New Home
Lampart and the Landis Theater Foundation board will officially light the new sign during a ceremony outside the theater at 5 p.m. today.
The Vineland High School Band is scheduled to attend to entertain the audience leading up to the moment when Foundation Board President Lori DeMatteo-Fiocchi flicks the switch.
“The excitement has truly begun to build toward our Springtime Opening Night gala,” DiMatteo-Fiocchi said, “and the lighted marquee will now serve as a beacon to the people of 6Vineland and the surrounding region that the Landis is finally coming back again.”
The theater is scheduled to open in April 2010.

Restaurant owner officially announces theater deal

VINELAND — Louis Ferretti has a vision of the city’s downtown where
local residents come to Landis Avenue for dinner and a show.
He officially announced at a news conference Thursday his plans to work
with Hans Lampart, the developer spearheading the renovation of the
Landis Theatre as a performing arts center, to open and operate a
restaurant and banquet hall at East and Landis avenues.
“You give them an attraction, they will come. It’s like the field of
dreams,” said Ferretti, who owns Centerton Country Club in Pittsgrove.
As the executive chef, Ferretti promised a full-scale menu reflective of
the Wolfgang Puck or Bobby Flay restaurants, both of which have
locations in Atlantic City. He said his restaurant would have valet
parking, total security, full catering and an open kitchen with a
wood-fire grill.
The restaurant will be designed to match the Art Deco-style of Landis
Theatre. Ferretti’s eatery will go in the former Mori building, which is
connected to the theater.
He expects it to open March 2010.
Ferretti initially said the restaurant could be called Landis
Steakhouse, but said Thursday a name would be announced at a later date.
Lampart and him are still in the planning stages, “but when we get the
plans, we’ll hit the ground running,” Ferretti said.
Both Mayor Robert Romano and Sandy Forosisky, the city’s redevelopment
director, shared their excitement for the new partnership at the
conference and are confident in Ferretti’s plans.
“Just look at the job Lou’s done with Centerton,” Romano said
