Louis, The theater you mentioned is the Trustees Theater. It was called the Weis Theater and was closed for over 20 years before SCAD took it over.

stefankatlanta You were not the only one. I did too. I think the last movie I saw there was Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

I think the entrance went to an area behind some apartments. I do not remember seeing the screen or parking area from the street.

It seems to me in the 1990s this place was a restaurant. I remember eating there and the lady at the cash register said this was the Gordon Theater and had a picture of it when I was the theater.

If this theater is one the main street, it should be listed as demolished. I usually drive through Sparta going to Sandersville. I remember about six years ago one Sunday Morning riding through Sparta and seeing the old theater had burned. The building was demolished right after that and a cheesey temporary “snack shack” has been put in the theater’s place.

I worked in Montezuma from 1982-83 and this building had already been demolished, or probably caved in. Only a fraction of the front wall was still there. Another thing about Montezuma at the time, the street where the theater was had a railroad track going up the middle of it. When the train came through, one side of the street was cut off from the other.

Mike, do you know anything about a hardtop theater in Montezuma. I worked in that town in 1982, and people said there was a theater in the town but had been closed by that time and demolished.

Look on the Internet Movie Data Base IMDB.com. That will tell you the year April Love was made.

I was in Milledgeville today and saw nothing across the street from the Campus that resembles a pool hall. Of course everything across the street from the Campus is now a restaurant. Can this be the building?

Here is what the Adelle looks like today. The sign says Blackwell Furniture Adelle theater. The outside looks better than the Pex facade.

No I never took pictures of the Stonemont. I only went there once. I do remember it was called Bollywood before it was demolished.

I like the way you are putting all the drive-ins on CT. I do remember seeing a drivein in Jenkinsberg years ago. I do not remember what its name was but it was very small.

JFBrantley commented about Forest Park Theatre on Jul 11, 2010 at 6:36 pm

I did mention previously that there was a theater in the shopping center that replaced the Forrest Park Drive-in (or 54 Drive-in) that was a store front theater and not a separate building. The storefront theater probably held only 100 people but the above building would have held many more.

My father told me that the picture in the following link was the Forrest Park Theater.

I have seen many restaurants, businesses and clubs including a Cheers bar when the television series was going on.

The address did not match what Jack Coursey has. Instead the street address was 770 Main Street. You can tell from the picture that the building may have been a theater. Even in the past there were lights on the front that looked like theater lights.

Presently the building appears to be in the process of renovation. I walked up and looked at the front door. Repairs are approved for various parts of the building. I have no idea what will be there but the floor has long since been leveled.

In the mid 1970s someone opened a second-run storefront theater in the shopping center where this drive-in was. It lasted about 2 months before it closed. One of the movies it showed was Airport 77. This should give you a timeline of when it was opened. Also there is a street beside the current shopping center that is called Theater Way.

Mike Rogers do you know anything about a drive-in in Jenkinsburg. From what I remember it was a very small drive-in that was between Locust Grove and Jackson.
