wow, wish they did that today. But yes the second runs really take away the experience.. if only it was vlassic or first run. ALso I will be getting pics soon, ontop of the marquee… the projection booth, the old womens restroom, and the cry room (complete with the original seats :D)

Why does second run take away a good movie experiance?
I am not sure but Thats Entertainment may have been the last movie to play here as a single screen. Sadly Loews is letting this place get run down, it used to be one of Cineplex Odeons best grossing houses outside of Manhattan.
This is my neighborhood thatre and although it has been “plexed” it is well maintained. This is because the theatre is owned by the Heskel Group and operated by UA Regal. Elijah Heskel comes in often and I’m sure that’s the only reason they don’t destroy this like all their other houses.
This theatre may have closed but it opened again because I was there one time in the early 80’s. At the time it was called City Line Cinema. It ended when it went on fire. At the time it was playing 2nd run double bills. Prior to that it spent time as a Spanish and XXX house. When it was first was converted to retail it housed an Odd Lot, I am not sure what is there now.
It’s hard to believe this was all just torn down.

This marquee was so unusual the way it protruded from the corner of the building. Was this the same one the theatre had until it closed?
I hope this winds up becoming a theatre again. How great to see that landmark marquee recreated.

This site has a picture of the grand opening of the Calderone. It seems Hofstra Library has all of the Calderone Circuts papers there.
I only was here twice, once for a double bill of two Neil Simon films, Only When I Laugh and The Goodbye Girl.
Why anyone put up with this lunacy is beyond me, these two should have been put in an asylum and the key thrown away.
Small maybe, but this is one of my favorite Nassau County theatres. Clearview keeps it spotless and always well maintained.
I have very fond memories of this theatre. It was not overly ornate but was just a real nice theatre.

UA is hands down the worst operator of theatres in the world. Were you ever in the once great Movies at Bayside before they destroyed it?

Ah ok then it must have been the late 70’s. I know I was working at The Haven at the time. I started there in 1978 so it must have been then or ‘79.
The old letters in the above picture are so much nicer then most of the ones of the times. I remember most of them were not so three dimensional.
