The New York Papers still show the listings for this theater although more people tend to look online for showtimes. How is the 3d alignment at this theater? Where I live in rockaway 3d is hit or miss; same with imax.
Hello-
to markp thanks for your reply other day. a two part follow up.
*during the 70MM engagement of Phantom Thread where were the brochures placed?
*also do you know of a website that will mention whatever became of a film that was never came out? as an example the Fall Movie section in a Sunday NYT this past Sept. listed films which never opened. in fact they were listed again in the Holiday Movie section the first Sunday in Nov. and gain never opened.
@Chopinlives81: Looks like those showtimes are final and it’ll indeed only be in 2D here after Thursday.
But there are 3D showtimes next week for Aquaman at nearby locations such as AMC 84th Street.
I just saw Aquaman in 3D and I want to take some friends to see it, but I’m noticing that after this Thursday, all the showings are listed as 2D. Can anyone confirm this or is it a mistake? I would like to see it again in 3D.
bigjoe59, as I remember, I think we had them for a little over a week. I know I got one the first day I was working there. That was an amazing run. 11 weeks and 377 shows and the print went back dirt and scratch free. It was a very proud run for myself and the other 2 projectionists that ran it.
Hello-
first off Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. okay here goes- how long did the rather nicely done brochure passed out at the 70MM engagement of Phantom Thread last? when I saw If Beale Street Could Talk opening day at the Angelika Film Center they were passing out a beautifully done brochure for the film that was so beautifully designed and printed they could have sold it has a souvenir program.
I saw Mary Poppins Returns in the Dolby Cinema yesterday. The reclining seats are comfortable and like other AMC cinemas with a Dolby auditorium the screen size is more than generous. The images and sound are nearly flawless. Visiting this theater is always a treat, just to admire the lavish decor given to each cinema entrance on the second floor. I wish more theaters paid tribute to the great cinemas of the past long gone but not forgotten.
One year ago today I started running Phantom Thread in 70MM in Cinema 2, the Kings Cinema.
Hello-
this past weekend If Beale Street Could Talk opened here and at the Angelika. the Angelika was passing out a freebie brochure that was so well done it amounted to a souvenir program. did this theater pass it out as well?
@klstra Based on my experience most (if not all) people recline. There is also lots of leg room so it should be very, very rare that someone’s view is obstructed. But if you want to be really sure I’d recommend just getting tickets for the balcony.
digital329 What if they aren’t reclined?
@guolei329: Well, that’s not entirely true. The Dolby here does have stadium seating on the four balcony rows. There is no stadium seating on the ground level, but all the seats recline so there shouldn’t be any obstruction of the screen.
guolei329 What video did you see?
The Dolby Cinema does not have stadium seating! Don’t go!!!
According to this Screen Rant article, around 70% of Dunkirk was shot in the 1.43:1 IMAX format.
The Avengers was filmed on the IMAX digital camera and was captured and shown in 1.90. It’s not really what we think of when we think of Imax. I think the only feature length film that was shot and projected in the 4:3 IMAX aspect ratio and on old school IMAX 70mm cameras was Dunkirk. But I even think Dunkirk used standard 70mm film for some shots.
It is incredibly expensive to film an entire movie in the IMAX format. To date, the only two feature-length movies are Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: End Game.
Hello-
thanks to Peter A. for his reply. I greatly enjoyed the film but saw it at the Loews 19 St. so watching it on Blu-ray the switching wasn’t of putting just odd. to which why wasn’t the entire film shot in IMAX?

Yes, the IMAX version of mission Impossible Fallout had the changing aspect ratios; IIRC, it’s during only two sequences: the HALO jump and the helicopter chase/cliff fight.
I believe the Nolan Dark Knight films, Dunkirk, and few others have changing aspect ratios on their Blu-ray & 4K releases, mimicking the IMAX versions.
Hello-
a question for people who saw Mission Impossible:Fallout at this theater’s IMAX auditorium this past summer. i just watched the blu-ray disc released last week and something odd happened that i had never seen before on a blu-ray disc. thru out the course of the film’s 2hrs. 27mins. the aspect ratio kept changing. it switched from the 2.35.1 ratio to filling the entire screen of my 39" 1080p LED t.v.. was that the way it was shown here?
Total seat count is now about 3254 (not including wheelchair seats).
Think the best one to ask is Dolby Cinema.

Confirmation that the Dolby Cinema at Odeon, LSQ (London, UK) will be the largest Dolby Cinema to date:
https://www.odeon.co.uk/dolbycinema/
It’s a shame that the screen itself won’t be the largest of any Dolby Cinema worldwide.
Does anyone happen to know which cinema does have the largest Dolby Cinema screen?
