The exterior of the Million Dollar Theatre is shown in a scene from Blade Runner. The marquee. Great film and other Los Angeles sights are in the movie too.
Philly sounds like Seattle in that most of the elaborate theatres from the past are gone. At least there are 4 or 5 left now in Seattle. Check out the 5th Avenue and Paramount. Wow!
There was another Northgate Theatre in Seattle. Also located at the end of the first mall in the country they say. Art moderne/deco. Large and high end in appearance. Neon accents in the ceiling like circles and a working curtain. Waterfall if I remember. A huge lobby and a huge marquee that stretched across the front of the building. Also deco. Should have been saved. Gone many years now. Mall is more active than ever however. The very booming Seattle you know!
My dad went to this theatre years ago and I think he said he won a prize in a drawing here once. In the depression probably. Still a wonderful building that looks much like it did in the past. Would be nice to see interior pics of the theatre from the past and the present.
I always have wondered if the replacement marquee for the Coliseum is in storage somewhere. Was put up in the early 1950’s I believe. I always thought it a wonderful theatre marquee. Art deco and very dramatic. Almost as nice as the original and went well with the exterior of the beautiful building. Too bad the huge trees hide the building now.
Beautiful Italian inspired exterior. Nice marquee too. Any interior pics?
Nice art deco lines. Great marquee too.
Wow elegant and stylish everywhere. Proscenium is wonderful.
Nice curtain and proscenium. Lots of quality style here.

This was one of the most beautiful theatres on the west coast. A tragedy the it was torn down for another parking lot.
Such an elegant interior. Ceiling and and murals and sidewall decoration is wonderful.
Wow so elegant. Wonderful curtain and proscenium. Ceiling too.
What a beautiful marquee.
What a lovely auditorium. Murals and ceiling especially. The multiplex can’t furnish this. What an historic loss for Long Island.

What a waste to tear down a gem like this. Like tearing down the Roman Coliseum.

Art moderne and great large marquee.
Very unusual signage. Great building.
Yes some areas have no regard for the history and style of the buildings there. A true waste of a wonderful building.

Nice art deco ceiling treatment. Walls could use some work.
Very nice proscenium and curtains. Wall treatments too. Great exteriors and marquee also.
Sad. Any interior pics? A nice old theatre like an island in a storm.
Extra fancy marquee and signage. Beautiful windows and brickwork.
Any interior pics? So interesting in appearance. Love the box office and marquee.
Kind of grim in appearance but still art deco and very evocative and interesting. Love this pic.
Really big screen. Cheers!
