BTW, shutter island is coming out…i might see it this weekend and see if it does boffo box office….in other news, avatar has made $666 million and will try to make $700 million in the weeks ahead leading up to the oscars…I don’t think there’s a chance that this movie will top a billion just in America alone.
just came back from seeing wolfman on president’s day….theater was crowded, mostly for avatar 3d and the imax version. I saw wolfman in theater 10, just a few blocks away from theater #13, the other theater that’s playing Avatar in regular 3D. It’s one of the smallest to show 3D. Projection was very good, no splices during the movie save for between reel changes. Text was easy to read and the sound was howling good!!! It should do better than other horror movies that are coming out in the next few weeks.
oh. How do the regular theaters compare with the IMAX (which I’ve been to a handful of times)? Also, is mass transit the best way to go to the theater since traffic can be a hassle?
Looks like Valentine’s Day will be big, beating Dear John at the box office by a lot. Wolfman and Percy are doing so-so, and Avatar is still kicking in, as the IMAX 3D showings still sell out. Wonder how Shutter Island will do since it’s the only big major release out. Time will tell.
This theater is listed as one of the theaters shown on an Iphone in a commercial for the product. Will they ever upgrade every theater except the imax with stadium seating in this building? The theater is near 20 years old yet they have digital projection in some of their screens.
Larry 2, I agree. Some of those upcoming 3-D films will not do boffo business like Avatar. 3-D will soon fade out by the time homes get 3d tvs and watch sporting events and movies on their big tvs. JDD, how are ticket sales for the oscar marathon? I think they’ll do well.
Looks like Avatar will still play in 3D on two screens and in Imax 3D on one screen. I read online that the Alice in Wonderland engagement will last for only a few weeks since it’s getting shorter for movies to survive at the theaters before the dvd release date.
Yeah, more and more big movies are going to be in 3D, like the new Spider-Man 3D reboot that will come out by the time AMC converts all of its theaters with the 4k projection. As for Avatar, it might rebound if it wins best picture the weekend after the Oscars are announced. Don’t forget that AMC will show a BPS at the end of February and early March with 5 movies each day as well as a 24 hour marathon of 10. I wonder if they’ll do Up and Avatar in both 3D? I thought Avatar made better use of 3D than Up. The other 8 would be shown by good old film. Hope the film doesn’t break down all the way through!!!
on a lighter note….amc made a profit due to 3d and imax. having a theater in that period get 3d and then imax put the icing on the cake. Coming soon…more 3D projectors and busier flicks!!! I think Avatar will gross around 700 million before the awards are over.
btw, tickets for this music show are at $15, which is a bargain for concert fans but is right up there with the met in HD tickets, which they should show in sony 4k rather than the preshow projectors. The preshow should be in 4k rather than the old projection as was the case with watching avatar in 3d.
Starting this weekend, Avatar will be in 2D as well as 3D on one screen, while it still runs in liemax. Any word on what the second digital screen will show? Probably not being used until they show the Celine Dion doc every night starting next week, and when that’s done, they’ll start showing avatar in 3d again.
a major snowstorm is coming to this theater with amount of snow to not reach the top of the building…btw, I think Avatar will still play in 3D on two screens and on the liemax screen until Alice in Wonderland comes out. March will be a busy month for 3D movies, and hopefully Rockaway will have enough 3D screens to play those movies.
Looks like Dear John will dethrone Avatar from the box office this weekend…it’s playing on several screens. Next up, The Wolfman, which will dominate the box office for a few weeks until Alice In Wonderland comes out.
Looks like I was wrong. Not much snow around here, but areas near the Neshaminy, Hamilton, and other theaters in South Jersey are getting hammered with the white stuff!!! Looks like the weatherman was wrong. On with the show!!!

3d will be added at this theater for alice in wonderland 3d in two weeks. advance tickets are on sale.

On the 27th and on March 6th, the 10-film marathon will be shown. I wouldn’t want to sit through 20+ hours of movies!!!

online ticketing is not available online for this theater today.

This theater is closed due to the snow. It will reopen tomorrow.
I think Rockaway might be the largest. BTW, this theater is closed due to the snow. It might reopen tomorrow.
I know at a library, they fast forward through the fbi warning and then show the movie. Same for schools and businesses.
Currently the AMC in my town bans sneaking in food….they might have security people strip searching moviegoers before they enter the lobby.

due to the snowstorm, a lot of happy kids will be upset that the movie theater is closed today.
